Hey Siri event highlights: Apple announces new products, including iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPad Pro

It’s always a big deal in the tech world when Apple holds an event to announce new products, and today’s Hey Siri event is no different. At the event, held in San Francisco, the company announced a number of new products, most notably the latest iPhones and a 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Apple also announced that iOS 9 will be available to download on September 16.

The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus look the same as the previous generation models, as is customary from an “s” release, but the internal specs have been upgraded from last year’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The only difference between the two phones is the display; the 6s has a 4.7-inch screen (326 ppi) while the 6s Plus has a 5.5-inch display (401 ppi). Otherwise, most of the specs are the same between the two: Apple A9 processor, 2GB RAM, 12MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. Both phones have cellular radios that cover all the major U.S. carriers, allowing for an unlocked phone to work with the carrier of your choice. The smaller phone has a 1,1810 mAh while the larger device sports a 2,915 mAh battery. Both come in your choice of silver, gold, space gray or rose gold and storage options of 16GB, 64GB or 128GB. Both phones will be available for pre-order beginning September 12 and will be released September 25, available for all of the major carriers in the U.S. Pricing for the 6s (on two-year contract) is $199 for 16GB, $299 for 64GB and $399 for 128GB. If you’d prefer the 6s Plus, it’ll cost you $100 more for each of the storage capacities. If you have an installment plan through your carrier, the starting prices should be $27/month for the 6s and $31/month for the 6s Plus. You can get full specs and more for the devices at Apple’s site here.

The 12.9-inch iPad Pro is the largest iPad released to date. In addition to its large retina display (264  ppi), it features Apple’s A9X processor, an 8MP rear camera and 1.2MP front camera and an estimated 12 hours of battery life. Color choices are silver, gold and space gray. The Wi-Fi version is available in 32GB and 128GB storage options for $799 and $949, respectively. There is also a Wi-Fi+LTE model available in 128GB only, priced at $1,079. The iPad Pro will be available in November. For complete specs and more information, go here.
